Kloof SPCA inspector captures 3.4m python

The beautiful and healthy African Rock Python, found in Embo, will be released into a safer area today.

A PYTHON, weighing 19.48kg, was brought into the Kloof and Highway SPCA yesterday, Tuesday, December 7.

The Kloof and Highway SPCA’s public relations officer, Brigitte Ferguson said the organisation’s inspector, Israel Silevu, responded to a call about a python that was seen eating chickens in the Molweni area.

“These kind of calls are our inspector’s favourite, and he responded immediately. On arrival, Silevu saw the most beautiful and healthy African Rock Python, which was brought back to our Kloof and Highway SPCA for a welfare check,” said Ferguson.

The reptile measured in at 3.4m and weighed 19.48 kgs.

Ferguson thanked the community members for contacting the SPCA to collect the large snake.

“This handsome boy will be released in a safe area today, Wednesday, December 8. The Kloof and Highway SPCA will rescue any animal that needs our help,” she added.
