Equipping job seekers with knowledge

Wisdom Seekers Training and Development partners with St Agnes in Kloof to help job seekers.

AS part of their service to the community, St Agnes in Kloof has partnered with the Wisdom Seekers Training and Development to help job seekers in landing a job.

Speaking to the Highway Mail, Reverend Sizwe Ngcobo said the church has had a data system where community and church members upload their CVs for job prospectuses.

“The church has a long history of coming alongside the communities in the Upper Highway area. We had over 1 000 job seekers in our database system, and the number grew every week as more job seekers were added. The initiative was disturbed during Covid, and we have recently revived it with Kirshinie from the Wisdom Seekers Training and Development Centre,” said Ngcobo.

Wisdom Seekers Training and Development Centre is an organisation that equips job seekers with relevant skills that will help them be effective in applying for jobs.

“We meet every week at St Agnes with the job seekers for our programme. This programme carries on for four weeks where we teach CV, cover/motivational letter and interview techniques. We also teach the candidates about appropriate work conduct that will help them survive the workplace,” said Kirshnie Pather of the organisation.

Pather said they were happy to team up with St Agnes and help the community with an important skill.
“There are a number of people who are in the job market, making it competitive, so if job seekers could be assisted with these effective skills, they would stand a better chance of thriving in their job searching,” she said.

The programme takes place every Tuesday at St Agnes Church, and community members who are job seekers are welcome to join the programme. For more information, Kirshnie Pather can be contacted on 074 372 7248.
