WATCH: Multiple-vehicle crash on Fields Hill

Motorists have been advised to avoid the area and use alternative routes.

MOTORISTS are advised to avoid the notorious Fields Hill following a serious accident involving three vehicles this morning (September 17).

ALS Paramedics spokesperson Garrith Jamieson said they were called out just before 09:00 to a scene on the M13 coming down Fields Hill before Richmond Road.

“The vehicles are badly damaged; one vehicle overturned and was found lying on its roof. Multiple patients are being treated on the scene and will be transported to hospitals.

Jamieson urged motorists to avoid the area at all costs.

Yesterday, paramedics advised motorists to drive with caution on the wet roads after responding to multiple accidents.

Jamieson advised drivers to exercise caution and reduce speed, allow extra travel time and leave a little earlier, ensuring their vehicle is roadworthy – check your windscreen wipers and tyres.

“When it’s rainy and misty, use your headlights so you are visible,” he said.

My name is Sanelisiwe Tsinde, and I'm a mother of two boys and very family-oriented. Being a community journalist for years, I can proudly say I love writing about positive community news articles and giving a voice to the voiceless. Seeing people getting assistance warms my heart. Every day is a different challenge and a new learning opportunity. I supply news for our trusted publication weekly, and a few years ago, Caxton ventured into online publication, so I contribute daily to the websites. I could say I am a multimedia journalist, and working in a community newspaper is beneficial as we do not focus on one thing but we do a bit of everything.
