Kickstart a joyful 2025 by embracing well-being and self-love

Start the new year with a journey of self-love and transformation.

THE festive season is coming to an end, and preparations for the new year are underway. Now is the perfect time to focus on your overall well-being. Kathy Bosman’s self-help book, Falling in Love with Me, offers a simple yet powerful guide to help you rejuvenate as you step into 2025.

With easy, actionable steps, this book provides a practical way to embrace new habits and steps in the direction of self-love. The book is a 30-day guide packed with nuggets of wisdom on how to love yourself in a society where we often feel the need to prove our worth. Each chapter is short, sweet, and full of love, with affirming messages that inspire self-compassion and companionship.

Here’s a look at the first three days of the book to start a positive new year.

Day 1: Put Yourself First

In this chapter, Bosman speaks to the busy bees juggling multiple roles in life. She encourages you to take the time to do things that make your heart dance.

“Do it often. Spend a few moments every day doing something you love – whether it’s reading the latest Mills & Boon, chilling in front of Netflix with your favorite series, or baking a batch of double-chocolate biscuits to enjoy with a cup of your favourite coffee. Use a gorgeous mug and a pretty plate. Pamper yourself.”

Putting yourself first is an essential practice for setting the tone of the new year. When you prioritise your joy and well-being, you create the space to show up as your best self in all other areas of your life.

Day 2: Meditate

Bosman describes meditation as the greatest act of self-love you can practice. In this chapter, she gently guides you through the process, offering practical tools to make meditation an effortless part of your daily routine.

“I love myself enough to take the time to rest my mind and my body. I deserve this time every day to empower myself. I do have the ability to meditate. I was born with it.”

Meditation isn’t just about stillness; it’s a nurturing act of self-care. By making time for this practice each day, you cultivate peace and clarity, empowering yourself to face challenges with a calm mind and a resilient heart.

Day 3: Be Gentle with Yourself

Bosman addresses the part of us that has internalised societal standards – pressures to look or behave in certain ways. This chapter emphasises the importance of self-acceptance and gentleness.

“When I realised I suffered from anxiety, I read up a lot about it. Many articles talked about being gentle with myself and accepting myself as I am. As I started doing that, the anxiety actually lessened. Of course, meditation was incredibly helpful, but acceptance and gentleness were the first steps in the right direction.”

In a world that often demands perfection, Bosman reminds us that true peace begins with self-compassion. By practising gentleness, we release unnecessary pressures and allow ourselves to be exactly who we are, flaws and all.

By putting yourself first, embracing daily meditation and being gentle with yourself, you begin to lay a solid foundation for a more loving, balanced new year.
