Rosey and Colin Chater speak about how communication was one of the factors that led to their successful marriage.

ROSEY and Colin Chater, a twin couple from Cowies Hill, recently celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary. The couple, who have been residents of the community for over 40 years, met as youngsters on a night out.

“We liked each other and we started going out, and when my wife travelled abroad, I travelled with her,” Colin said.
What sets the couple apart is that they share the same birthday June 4, a coincidence they discovered on their first meeting. With the support of their parents, they decided to tie the knot and have been together ever since. They have two children, a boy and a girl, although their daughter died 25 years ago.

“We get along so well, and we have built our relationship on friendship and that worked wonderfully for us. We have also been on trips many times,” the couple said.
According to Rosey and Colin, transparency and communication have been key to their successful marriage. “It is always best to speak to your partner, and not do things behind each other’s back,” Rosey said.
