Local businesses bring joy to Malvern Children’s Home

Carefest driven by Mahindra was hosted at Malvern Children's home to bring needed support to the home.

LOCAL businesses came together for a day of giving back during CareFest, an event driven by Mahindra and hosted at Malvern Children’s Home recently. The day was filled with fun and donation drives for both the community and the home’s residents.

Established in 1961, Malvern Children’s Home provides shelter, daily meals, emotional support, and education for children in need.

Yolandie Petzer, the CareFest day co-ordinator, explained their motivation for bringing CareFest to the home.
“We wanted to lend a helping hand, so we came to mow the lawn, set up jumping castles for the children, and provide lunch for everyone. Before the event, we also donated 20 brand new mattresses to the home,” she said.

Prints Rescue was also present, offering pets for adoption, and a symbolic “Tree of Hope” was planted at the entrance of the home. “The tree was generously sponsored and now stands in front of the home as a symbol of hope for everyone who visits,” Petzer added.

Andile Ncamane of Malvern Children’s Home expressed his gratitude to the CareFest team, emphasising the impact of their contributions.

“What they did on that day helped the home a lot, and we at Malvern Children’s Home are very grateful. This event also raised awareness among other companies that we exist and are in need of the services and donations they provided,” he said.
Ncamane added that they hope this initiative will become a regular occurrence.
