bp Richmond Road’s Official Grand Opening

The revamped bp Richmond Road service station in Westmead has officially reopened, introducing upgraded facilities aimed at improving convenience and service for motorists, commuters and the surrounding community.

The redevelopment brings several new additions to the site, including a Wild Bean Café, a bp Express convenience store, a truck refuelling area designed to better accommodate truck drivers and commercial vehicles travelling through the busy Westmead industrial area. The site also welcomes local accounts and offers competitive, negotiated fuel rates for commercial customers.

The site now also offers Gas of Mzanzi, providing easy and convenient LPG gas exchanges, refills and accessible energy solutions for households and businesses at the most competitive prices.

To mark the occasion, bp Richmond Road hosted a vibrant grand opening celebration that welcomed the bp Leadership team, customers, suppliers and members of the local community. The event created an energetic atmosphere and offered visitors the opportunity to experience the upgraded site firsthand.

Well-known East Coast Radio personality J Sbu and Matty Jones were part of the celebrations, bringing excitement and entertainment to the day alongside live dancers, music and engaging activities.

Customers enjoyed a variety of interactive experiences, including the popular Spin the Wheel competition, where visitors walked away with a range of prizes and giveaways. One of the most exciting highlights of the day was the Basket Dash challenge, where a Checkers Sixty60 employee raced through the store in a thrilling 60-second dash, collecting as many items as possible while spectators cheered on.

Suppliers and partners also played an active role in the event, offering free giveaways and interactive experiences for visitors. Our very own Wild Bean coffee supplier hosted a hands-on coffee-making demonstration, allowing customers to learn techniques for preparing the perfect cup.

The celebration concluded with the official ribbon-cutting ceremony attended by the bp leadership team, marking the reopening of the upgraded service station and symbolising a renewed commitment to serving the Westmead, Upper Highway community and surrounding areas.

With its expanded retail offering, modern facilities and new additions, bp Richmond Road continues to strengthen its role as a convenient stop for motorists, commuters and truck drivers travelling through one of Westmead’s busiest routes.
