Detective awarded for conviction of cold-blooded killer

Pinetown detective Sifiso Mbambo is honoured after securing the conviction and 27-year sentence of a Wyebank murderer.

DETECTIVE warrant officer Sifiso Mbambo from the Pinetown SAPS has received an award from the district commissioner following the conviction and stiff sentencing of a cold-blooded killer in a case he investigated.

On Monday (May 25), the Pinetown Regional Court sentenced Nkululeko Ndlovu to 27 years behind bars for a 2023 Wyebank murder.

Ndlovu was arrested just over a month after committing the murder, which he carried out by shooting multiple times, in cold blood, a person he accused of having stolen from him.

Ndlovu fled the scene, and went into hiding, by so doing absconding from work, and he “disappeared”.

Through collaborative work with informers, Mbambo located Ndlovu at the Luganda area in Mariannhill where he had been hiding.

During court proceedings on May 11, Mbambo took the witness stand to give testimony which detailed Ndlovu’s arrest and the firearm which was found in his possession.

The court heard, however, that that firearm was not the one which had been used for the murder.

Ndlovu was convicted and sentenced for murder and possession of a firearm as well as ammunition.
