City rolls out exciting programme for Transport Month
The City says as part of Transport Month, it continues to invest in safe, efficient, and accessible public transport facilities.
The eThekwini Municipality is marking Transport Month 2026 with a series of public awareness campaigns, road safety initiatives, community engagements, and GO!Durban activations aimed at promoting safe, accessible, and integrated transport across the city.
The programme forms part of the national Transport Month campaign, which highlights the importance of efficient transport systems in driving economic growth and connecting people to opportunities.
Throughout October, residents can look forward to a range of activities designed to educate commuters, motorists, pedestrians, and public transport users on the importance of safe and responsible road use.
Community Road Safety Campaigns will take place in INK (Inanda, Ntuzuma, KwaMashu) on October 7 and Umlazi on October 21, focusing on road safety awareness and community engagement.

The Municipality will also host a series of CBD Pedestrian Campaigns at key locations including Berea Centre, the Workshop Precinct, Mega City, and Toti Mall. These activations aim to encourage safer pedestrian behaviour while creating awareness about the shared responsibility of all road users in reducing accidents and improving mobility.
As part of the City’s commitment to transforming public transport, GO!Durban roadshows will be held across the Greater North, Durban Central, Durban West, South 1, and South 2 regions. These engagements will provide communities with information about the benefits of GO!Durban and how the integrated transport network will improve connectivity and access to opportunities across eThekwini.
Taxi Rank Activations will be hosted in the Durban CBD, Isipingo, Mega City, and Pinetown, bringing transport information and services directly to commuters. Additional highlights include the Vehicle Operating Company Establishment Stakeholder Event, the launch of the Razo Mascot, and the GO!Durban Soft Launch later in the month.
Through these activities, the eThekwini Municipality aims to promote safer roads, strengthen public transport awareness, and showcase the role of transport in building a connected, inclusive, and economically vibrant city.
