Dr Ashmika Gokhul is a specialist paediatrician whose commitment to children’s health is matched by her extensive experience and strong community values.
With qualifications including MBChB, DCH, FcPaed, and MMed, she brings a wealth of clinical expertise to her practice at Life The Crompton Hospital.
Dr Gokhul treats a wide range of medical conditions in infants and children from birth up to 12 years of age. Her approach is rooted in evidence-based medicine but guided by compassion – a combination that has earned her a trusted reputation among families across the region.
Having qualified as a medical doctor in 2006 and a paediatric specialist in 2014, she initially served in the public healthcare system. After years of facing challenges around access to care, she transitioned to private practice in 2017 to provide more responsive and consistent support to her patients.
“It became frustrating not having the ease of access to healthcare for my patients,” she explains. This shift has allowed her to offer more individualised care in a well-resourced setting.
Patients under her care also benefit from her admission rights at several leading facilities, including Netcare St Augustine’s, Netcare Parklands, Life Westville, and Life Entabeni hospitals – ensuring continuity of care when hospitalisation is required.
Outside of her professional role, Dr Gokhul enjoys the simple pleasure of quiet time in her garden and travelling to explore new destinations. She believes in supporting local businesses, seeing it as an essential part of community growth and sustainability.
Her passion for paediatrics is unmistakable and, as she puts it, “When you love what you do for a profession, it makes it so much easier to grow your business.” This philosophy continues to shape the way she cares for her young patients and supports their families through every stage of early development.
