Man strangles girlfriend, dumps her body next to a pathway

The suspect was arrested and is expected to appear at the Pinetown Magistrate’s Court on Friday, November 11.

A 32-YEAR-OLD man was arrested by Pinetown police on Wednesday, November 9 for the alleged murder of his girlfriend in Nazareth.

Pinetown SAPS communications officer Captain Bongumusa Manqele said it is alleged that the deceased and the suspect resided together on Dlamini Road.

According to Manqele, there was a history of domestic violence in their relationship.

“It is alleged that on the day of the murder, Tuesday, November 8, the deceased (21) left the residence after trying to break up with the suspect.”

“It is alleged that the suspect followed her, and on the way, there was an argument and the girlfriend was strangled to death by the suspect and her body was dumped next to a pathway,” reported Manqele.

The body of the deceased was found by members of the community who summoned the suspect to the scene.

“Preliminary investigation by police led to the arrest of the suspect at the scene,” said Manqele.

He added that the suspect will be charged with murder. He is expected to appear at the Pinetown Magistrate’s Court tomorrow, November 11.
