Described as a respectful and well-mannered learner who is very popular among his peers, Jamie was over the moon to walk away with the top prize.

Even though Jamie excels in all the sport he participates in, he admitted that he loved rugby the most.

“I enjoy playing with my teammates around me – rugby would not be possible without different players in the team,” he said.

“I admire professional rugby player Damian Willemse – he plays with so much passion and enthusiasm,” he said.

Jamie will attend Westville Boys’ High School next. When he finishes school, Jamie said he would like to play professional rugby or study to become an accountant or an architect.

His proud coach, Hayden Adamson, said he is very proud of the dedicated and hard-working Jamie whom he has had the pleasure to coach since Jamie was in junior primary school.

“He impressively manages to excel at academics while maintaining an active commitment to a wide range of sports, including cricket, cross-country, hockey, football, rugby and water polo. He is a valued member of our school’s 1st XV Rugby team that participated in a prestigious rugby festival at Trinity House in Johannesburg.

“At the festival, Jamie was awarded the ‘Man of the Match’ award twice, and was honoured to be selected as the ‘Player of the Festival’,” he said.

Adamson described Jamie as an exceptional goal kicker and a naturally gifted sportsman whose work ethic at practices and matches exceeds that of many other 13-year-old boys.

Nozi Mkhize, SPAR KZN’s Advertising and Sponsorship manager, said Jamie was such a phenomenal young man.

“I have never seen someone doing so many things and excelling in all of them. You are going to be great leader – keep up the good work. You are so special, and we wish you all the best,” said an impressed Mkhize.

She encouraged schools to submit their stars and showcase their talent.

Nicole Vosser, business manager of Caxton Durban, said Jamie was a well-deserved winner.

She thanked SPAR KZN for the sponsorship of the pages. “If it were not for SPAR, we wouldn’t be able to showcase such amazing talent. Thank you for the support; it means the world to us to showcase these superstars.”
