Four suspects arrested in Pinetown for extortion and dealing in drugs

The suspects were arrested by members of the eThekwini Infrastructure Task Team during an operation.

FOUR suspects were arrested for extortion and dealing in drugs during an operation which was conducted by members of the eThekwini Infrastructure Task Team on the weekend.

According to acting eThekwini district communications officer Captain Muzi Maphumulo, members were responding to information that they received.

“The four suspects were arrested in various areas in Pinetown for possession of a large amount of dagga and drugs,” he said.

Maphumulo said police recovered six kilograms of dagga and rock cocaine from the various suspects.

“All the suspects were detained at Pinetown Police Station,” said Maphumulo.

He added that the eThekwini District Task team is working around the clock in various areas in the district to ensure that all criminal elements are eradicated.

“The team deals with issues or cases involving infrastructure, drugs, illegal firearms and all transgressions of the law within the eThekwini District,” said Maphumulo.
