City advises of planned water reduction
The municipality will shut down the 1200mm pipeline to do sectional repairs at Perth Road and High Wycombe Road, Westville.
ETHEKWINI Municipality advises residents and businesses of a planned reduction in bulk water supply on the Southern Aqueduct from Wednesday, August 12 at 08:00 to Friday, August 14 at 08:00.
According to the City, its Water Operations Department will shut down the existing 1200mm pre-stressed concrete pipeline to allow contractors to carry out sectional repair work in preparation for the new Southern Aqueduct Pipeline Upgrade Project.

“The existing 1200mm steel pipeline will remain operational and will continue supplying water to the western, central and southern regions.
“The sectional repair work will take place at the intersection of Perth Road and High Wycombe Road in Westville,” said the municipality in a statement.
The City will closely monitor reservoir storage levels throughout the shutdown.
Depending on water demand and reservoir levels, the municipality said the reservoir outlets may be temporarily closed to preserve available storage and reduce recovery times once bulk supply is restored.
Affected Areas Central Region:
Northdene 1 & 2 Reservoirs:
Farningham Ridge, Hillary, Malvern, Mount Vernon, Queensburgh, Queensmead Industrial and Shallcross.
Firwood Reservoir:
Farningham Ridge, Malvern, Moseley Park, Mount Vernon, Nirvana Hills, Northdene and Queensburgh.
Ridley Park Reservoir:
Coedmore, Farningham Ridge, Hillary, Malvern, Memorial Park, Mount Vernon, Queensburgh, Umbilo, Umhlathuzana and Umkhumbane.
The Municipality apologises for the inconvenience caused and urges residents and businesses in the affected areas to use water sparingly during this period.
