Northwood ‘he-rose’ continue decade-long tradition

Every year, Northwood School hands out roses and partakes in fun assemblies at three girls’ schools in Durban North.

NOTHING says Valentine’s Day like receiving red roses, and a school in Durban is keeping this time-honoured tradition alive by spreading a token of their esteem.

Every year, on February 14, prefects from Northwood School visit three girls’ schools in the Durban North area to hand out roses to learners.

Northwood School head boy Guy Truscott explained the idea behind the fun tradition.

“For more than a decade, our school has had a proud tradition where we visit our three sister schools, Danville Park Girls’ High School, Northlands Girls’ High School and Our Lady of Fatima to hand out roses as a token of their esteem. We also take part in fun assemblies and activities with the other schools. At Danville today, the boys dressed up for a play on stage before handing out roses to some of the learners,” he said.

Truscott said Northwood has always come bearing gifts like roses and biscuits.
