Just In: Driver seriously injured in Field’s Hill accident

While paramedics were attending to the accident scene, another car overturned on the eastbound carriageway while trying to get past the scene.

ONE person sustained critical injuries when two cars collided on the M13 Field’s Hill in Kloof just after 15:00 today, Monday, March 6.

Garrith Jamieson from ALS Paramedics Medical Services said the paramedics were called to a serious accident just before the Pioneer Road off-ramp.

“The two cars collided on the westbound carriageway before one of the drivers lost control of the car. The vehicle veered down an embankment, coming to rest on its side against a tree.

“The driver, a male believed to be in his thirties was trapped in the wreckage, and the Jaws of Life were used to free him. He was then transported to hospital,” said Jamieson.

He added that the driver of the second car sustained minor injuries. Another car overturned on the eastbound carriageway while trying to get past the accident scene. Traffic was severely affected.
