Preschool celebrates 30th anniversary

Rainbows End Pre-Primary School in Hillary was started by Joanne Anderson in 1993.

RAINBOWS End Pre-Primary School in Hillary celebrated the school’s 30th anniversary on Friday, July 7.

On the day, the staff decorated the school with balloons, and the little ones were spoiled with sweet treats and a cake to mark this milestone.

Founder of the school Joanne Anderson said she decided to follow her lifelong dream after teaching at Hillary Primary School for 15 years.

“I resigned and opened Rainbows End Pre-Primary School in 1993. At that stage, we were situated on Mount Vernon Road.”

A few years later, Anderson bought the property in First Street and converted it into a school.

She said she is happy the school has gone from strength to strength.

“Over the years, it has steadily grown in numbers and reputation. I can confidently say we have provided children with a good-quality preschool experience,” said the proud Anderson.

She thanked the teachers who ensure they provide a child-centred experience with loads of love and care.

“Our children move to big school well-prepared, confident and happy little people,” added Anderson.

Sanelisiwe Tsinde

My name is Sanelisiwe Tsinde, and I'm a mother of two boys and very family-oriented. Being a community journalist for years, I can proudly say I love writing about positive community news articles and giving a voice to the voiceless. Seeing people getting assistance warms my heart. Every day is a different challenge and a new learning opportunity. I supply news for our trusted publication weekly, and a few years ago, Caxton ventured into online publication, so I contribute daily to the websites. I could say I am a multimedia journalist, and working in a community newspaper is beneficial as we do not focus on one thing but we do a bit of everything.
