Coming on board this year is the Hillcrest AIDS Centre Trust nursery at 26 Old Main Road, Hillcrest. With free entry, the Ubuntu Ground Cafe is offering a tea/coffee and cake special for R55, while viewers enjoy the view of the nursery. Their shops and nursery will be open on both days.
WITH the Hillcrest Aids Centre Trust (HACT) on board this year, Kloof Rotary Anns will be hosting their Open Gardens 2023 on October 14 and 15. Raising funds for their ongoing projects, four gardens will be on show this year, including the garden in the HACT.
“This year, the Hillcrest AIDS Centre is on board, offering a tea/coffee and cake special for R55 as well as their usual menu with the shops and nursery open on both days,” said Andrea Ras.
The entrance fee is R30 per person per garden, payable at each garden by cash or zapper. Children under 12 are free. The gardens will be open from 09:30 until 16:30 on both days.
The owners of this garden are Ian Todd and Paul Bushell. The garden is located at 11 Lyngarth Road, Kloof. This lush Kloof single-acre garden has been pared back to create a manicured and simple sanctuary surrounded by a combination of Plane and indigenous trees. The rolling lawn is formalised with impressive urns and boxed gardens to create a more contemporary feel. There is also a lovely vegetable garden.
On 1 Sandlee, 4 Coghill Avenue, Kloof, is this indigenous and exotic garden tucked away in the heart of Kloof which has many rooms. From the driveway, you can turn right into a shady forest with a moss garden and a vegetable enclosure in one corner, or you can walk straight past the fountain filled with fish through a stone wall into a flower garden, and then onto a lovely lawn with beautiful flower beds.
The TWIMS, formally Crowhurst, is also on show at 74 Everton Road, Gillitts. Photo: Supplied
