Nativity scene spreads Christmas cheer

The Rotary Club of Westville has once again set up the popular nativity scene outside the Westville Civic Centre to celebrate the festive season.

IN celebration of Christmas, the Rotary Club of Westville set up the much-loved Westville Nativity Scene at the intersection of Attercliffe and Buckingham Terrace. A few residents joined the Rotary Club for its unveiling, and they sang carols.

The Westville Nativity Scene was launched in 2005 by local resident Helen Cannon. Over the years, it has become a beloved tradition, with many residents visiting the site with their children.

This year, Rotarians have, once again, invited the public to visit with their children, especially in the evenings when the lights are up.
The scene was taken over by The Rotary Club of Westville in 2018 as a service to the community.

“The Westville Bowling Club provides us with electricity,” said another Rotarian, Alex Wardle, adding that they were grateful for all the sponsors who have helped set up the scene.

The Rotarians appealed to the public to keep the scene safe and untouched for all to enjoy.

My name is Sanelisiwe Tsinde, and I'm a mother of two boys and very family-oriented. Being a community journalist for years, I can proudly say I love writing about positive community news articles and giving a voice to the voiceless. Seeing people getting assistance warms my heart. Every day is a different challenge and a new learning opportunity. I supply news for our trusted publication weekly, and a few years ago, Caxton ventured into online publication, so I contribute daily to the websites. I could say I am a multimedia journalist, and working in a community newspaper is beneficial as we do not focus on one thing but we do a bit of everything.
