Colour for a purpose, and help save baby Ahana’s life
Twenty-two-month-old Ahana Dhanuk needs a lifesaving treatment to survive a rare form of cancer – neuroblastoma.
A BLUFF family is appealing for help to raise funds for their toddler, who, at 18 months old, was diagnosed with a rare childhood cancer called neuroblastoma.
The fundraiser for Ahana Dhanuk will be held at the Shongweni Farmer’s Market on Saturday, February 10, from 07:00 to 13:00.
Despite the traumatic experience of hospitals and going through chemotherapy at just 22 months old, The Bluff toddler still beams with a smile.
Her father, Aveen, described Ahana as a bubbly child.

“She is always smiling and loves playing with her toys and watching Coco Melon. She also enjoys dancing,” said her dad.
The family requires financial support to help her get to the United States of America where she will be able to get the treatment she needs for this type of cancer.
The family is aiming to raise R7.1 million.

Neuroblastoma cancer is a cancer that develops in immature nerve tissue.
A lump was found on her back – and after tests, the parents were given the news.
“We saw this large mass within the chest cavity. The lump that we saw on her back was actually protruding through her chest and around her spine,” said Aveen.
He said at the time of diagnosis, it was pressing against the heart.
“It was quite devastating to then switch to a mode of ‘how we do we resolve this?'”
On Saturday, people can spray or shave their heads and make donations. There will be live music and fun for the whole family.
