Time to celebrate with the Irish for St Patrick’s Day

The public is invited to explore St Patrick's Day in style with the Irish.

LIGHTS, jaunty music and the whirl of dance – this is what you can expect at a St Patrick’s Day event coming to KZN this weekend.

The local chapter of the Irish South Africa Association is putting on its much-loved and fun-packed lunch event at the Westville Country Club on Saturday, March 16.

“Everyone is welcome,” said Ray McNulty, president of the association’s KZN Chapter.

“Our banners traditionally gives everyone the favourite Irish greeting, ‘hundred thousand welcomes’, and we look forward to getting together with old friends and making new ones.

“The event is a feast of food and entertainment for everyone – those who are Irish and those who would like to be Irish at least for a day!”

Tim Reilly, deputy head of mission from the Embassy of Ireland in South Africa, will be present from Pretoria to toast the local Irish community, give an update on Irish-South African projects and deliver the president of Ireland’s St Patrick’s Day message.

Renowned local singer Lauren Laing and the band, Spontaneous Combustion, will have everyone on their feet with Irish favourites, and the Celtic Heartbeat Academy of Irish Dance KZN will wow you with their sense of rhythm.

In between, guests will savour a delicious, three-course buffet lunch that includes a vegetarian option.

Make the most of this chance to join the global constellation of Irish people worldwide by celebrating St Patrick’s Day at the Westville event for R380 per person. The doors open at midday. Booking and pre-payment are essential to ensure your space. For booking and payment details, contact treasurer.dbn@ireland.co.za.

And remember to share the good times through the chapter’s Facebook page: Irish South African Association – Kwazulu-Natal Chapter.
