Pinetown Girls’ celebrates Hindu culture

The aim of the event was to demonstrate the various facets of Hindu culture and its traditions with fashion.

THE Hindu Students’ Association (HSA) of Pinetown Girls’ High School (PGHS) held a fashion show recently. The aim of the fashion show was to demonstrate the various facets of Hindu culture and its traditions with fashion.

Yutika Poolingam, the head of the HSA, said the association strives to show unity in diversity through music, dance and song.

The guest speaker for the day was Pundit Panday who highlighted the importance of light (jyothi) in Hinduism and also touched on the importance of the solar eclipse.

The HSA Girls come from all backgrounds and learn the various dances taught to them by Yutika Poolingam.

During the show, the audience thoroughly enjoyed the music and songs sung by organiser of the event, Terry Poolingam, and clapped and joined in with enthusiasm.

Poolingam thanked the educators who modelled with the learners on the runway, the learners of the HSA and the management and staff of PGHS for their continued support.
