Women’s group members walk to empower one another

The women's group is hoping to have more women joining them in raising awareness against abuse of women and children.

THE Waterlily Women’s Group’s aim is to empower women, and they recently took to the streets to walk and raise awareness on the abuse of children and women.

With the group’s motto, ‘Each time a woman stands up for herself, she stands up for every woman’, the chairperson, Ivey Govender, said they want to invite other women to join them on their walk and motivate one another.

“The women’s group also has a cancer support group, which meet once a month at Wyebank Crèche. The support group is for those fighting the disease and for families who have lost loved ones as well as for those currently in remission,” she said.

Sanelisiwe Tsinde

My name is Sanelisiwe Tsinde, and I'm a mother of two boys and very family-oriented. Being a community journalist for years, I can proudly say I love writing about positive community news articles and giving a voice to the voiceless. Seeing people getting assistance warms my heart. Every day is a different challenge and a new learning opportunity. I supply news for our trusted publication weekly, and a few years ago, Caxton ventured into online publication, so I contribute daily to the websites. I could say I am a multimedia journalist, and working in a community newspaper is beneficial as we do not focus on one thing but we do a bit of everything.
