Star College has thanked the community after receiving overwhelming support for Tongaat’s tornado disaster-relief collection.

STAR College received an outpouring of support and generosity during their latest outreach programme for Tongaat’s tornado disaster-relief collection.

“The contributions have been truly heartwarming, and we are humbled by the kindness and compassion shown by the school community.

“We would like to extend our deepest thanks to our dedicated parents who have encouraged their children to participate in this effort. Your willingness to contribute and support this initiative has been instrumental in making it a success.

“We are proud of the way our learners have responded to this call, demonstrating immense compassion and community spirit as they worked tirelessly to gather items,” said Star College’s head of the community-service team, Meral Osmanoglu.

The team dropped off hundreds of bags of food, toiletries and clothing at the Vishwaroop Temple in Tongaat for distribution.

Marketing manager Sara Hayden reflected that, as they look back on this experience, they are reminded of the power of unity and compassion.

“The school’s efforts have shown us that, even in the face of adversity, we can come together to make a positive difference. The contributions will bring much-needed relief and hope to those affected by the tornado, and we are grateful to have played a part in this effort. Thank you again for being a part of this meaningful initiative. We are proud to have worked together to make a difference, and we look forward to continuing to build on this sense of community and compassion in the days ahead.”

Sanelisiwe Tsinde

My name is Sanelisiwe Tsinde, and I'm a mother of two boys and very family-oriented. Being a community journalist for years, I can proudly say I love writing about positive community news articles and giving a voice to the voiceless. Seeing people getting assistance warms my heart. Every day is a different challenge and a new learning opportunity. I supply news for our trusted publication weekly, and a few years ago, Caxton ventured into online publication, so I contribute daily to the websites. I could say I am a multimedia journalist, and working in a community newspaper is beneficial as we do not focus on one thing but we do a bit of everything.
