Indulge in a musical feast at Kloof concert

This coming Friday night, the Our Lady of Mercy Catholic Church in Kloof will present ‘Songs of Ireland’, featuring Bridget O’Brien as Ct Filip Kormuth’s guest soloist.

JOIN Count Filip Kormuth and students at Our Lady of Mercy Catholic Church, 79 Old Main Road, on Friday, October 25, at 19:00.

The night promises to be a musical feast. The evening will start with the Baroque Sonata by Arcangelo Corelli.

Guest artist Marian Becker will be on the French horn and accompanied by Ct Filip Kormuth on accordion. Franz Strauss’ piece, Nocturno for Horn will follow with Ct Filip this time accompanying Marian on piano.

Marian Becker is a specialist French horn player who studied horn at the University of Cape Town where she obtained a Bachelor of Music Degree and followed that up with a Master’s Degree from the University of KwaZulu-Natal.

She has been on exchange to Portugal for further studies and was a full-time member of the KwaZulu-Natal Philharmonic Orchestra before she became a mother. Marian performs from time to time, not only as a soloist but also as part of her own ensemble which recently delighted the audiences at the Hilton Arts Festival.

Works by Liszt, Chopin, Brahms and other celebrated composers will also be on the programme.
