WATCH: Caxton Local Media Durban goes pink for employee wellness
The corporate wellness day saw two breast cancer awareness non-profit organisations being supported.
STAFF at Caxton Local Media Durban were tickled pink yesterday (October 24), all in the name of Breast Cancer Awareness Month.
Free health screenings, breast examinations, fitness demonstrations and an informative talk left every one feeling empowered and motivated towards improving their health.

The collaboration saw the business join forces with PinkDrive, Mediskills Academy and Bluff Meat Supply. Sauces were sponsored by Minnies.
Fitness guru Tarine Keet from Shake It Dance Fit had everyone sweating with her upbeat dance fitness class. The team from Burra Boxing then took over with a timed circuit routine and a boxing demonstration. Shew! People worked muscles they didn’t even know they had.
Another initiative that was supported was Pink Trees For Pauline as the outside of the building was draped in pink material to add to the festivities.
Business manager for Caxton Local Media Durban, Nicole Berichon, said the branch was proud to collaborate with PinkDrive, together with major client Bluff Meat Supply in the corporate wellness event.
“It was a great way to give back to our employees and to show that their well-being is important to us while supporting these breast cancer awareness organisations that do such good work out there. We were delighted to have had one of our valued clients, Bluff Meat Supply, on board. Boerewors rolls, generously sponsored by them, were sold to staff at a nominal price, with all proceeds going to support the PinkDrive,” she said.
Group editor Corrinne Louw said the day was phenomenal.
“I loved how every ‘Caxtonian’ rolled up their sleeves, literally and figuratively. Literally to get their blood pressure checked and figuratively to ensure the day was a success. As journalists, we always write about cancer awareness drives and the importance of regular check-ups. Today, we were tested, and Janice and PinkDrive were just brilliant, putting all the ladies at ease. It was all done alongside the fun of dance fitness and circuit training done by Shake It Dance Fitness and Burra Boxing. I can’t wait for the next one,” she said.
Janice Benecke, marketing and event coordinator for PinkDrive Durban, said the message was simple: Early detection saves lives.
“We were happy to see such a positive response from the staff. PinkDrive is committed to improving breast cancer awareness and education as well as providing free screening services to the medically uninsured across South Africa,” she said.
