Market fun

  •  St Margaret’s Church will be hosting a Christmas night market on Friday, November 29, at its premises on 11 Delaware Avenue. The market, which runs from 17:00 to 21:00, is a fundraiser for the church. Debbie Russell, the coordinator of the market, said that the event is a combination of a fête and a market.
  • The iThemba Shop of Hope will host a community market at the Musgrave Methodist Church on Saturday, November 30, from 10:00 to 14:00. The community market sells all sorts of preloved goods, thrift, collectables, décor items, jewellery, clothing, white elephant and knickknacks. There will also be tea, coffee and cakes for sale.
  • A market with all sorts, including fresh farm produce, is The Buzz – a local, community market. You can join every Saturday from 08:30 to 13:00 at 38 Pitlochry Road, Westville, next door to the Garden Centre. You are sure to find something at their market: that perfect local, unique and authentic gift; organic vegetables; unique clothing with a local flair; decadent treats; and of course, books by Buzz Books. Future event to consider in November:

End the year with a colourful, riotous bang with KickstArt’s rollicking family panto version of Puss in Boots at the Elizabeth Sneddon Theatre from December 5 to January 12.

Set on an enchanted Caribbean Island, the show features sumptuous sets, colourful costumes, song, dance and jokes a-plenty. Puss in Boots stars the ‘fur-midable’ Rory Booth in the title role with William Young as his hapless owner, Tom Marzipan; Blessing Xaba is Tom’s long-suffering mother, Merry Marzipan; and Lyle Buxton is his meathead of a brother, Tristram.

The show’s playlist has been updated with well-known songs like Brave by Sara Bareilles and Hero by Mariah Carey with returning crowd favourites, such as Rhythm of the Night by Debarge, Michael Buble’s Sway, Katy Perry’s Roar and Ricky Martin’s La Vida Loca, as well as a host of other hummable, popular songs that’ll have your toes tapping and your kids singing along!

Performances are at 14:30 on weekdays and Sundays and 11:00 and 15:30 on Saturdays.

Tickets can be purchased through Webtickets.
