Nativity scene lights up Westville

On Thursday, get into the festive season by attending the unveiling of the Westville Nativity Scene, and sing some carols.

IN celebration of Christmas, the Rotary Club of Westville has set up the much-loved Westville Nativity Scene at the intersection of Attercliffe Road and Buckingham Terrace.

On Thursday, December 5, at 17:30, residents are invited to join the Rotary Club members for its unveiling and to sing some carols.

The Westville Nativity Scene has become a beloved tradition, with many residents visiting the site with their children and snapping pics.

This year, Rotarians have, once again, invited the public to visit with their children, especially in the evenings when the lights are up.

“The place is guarded by JAG security, so it is safe,” said Westville resident Geoff Dawson.

“The scene is erected each year by the Rotary Club of Westville as a service to the community.

“The Westville Bowling Club provides us with electricity,” said Dawson, adding that they are grateful for all the sponsors who have helped set up the scene.

The Rotarians appealed to the public to keep the scene safe and untouched for all to enjoy.

Sanelisiwe Tsinde

My name is Sanelisiwe Tsinde, and I'm a mother of two boys and very family-oriented. Being a community journalist for years, I can proudly say I love writing about positive community news articles and giving a voice to the voiceless. Seeing people getting assistance warms my heart. Every day is a different challenge and a new learning opportunity. I supply news for our trusted publication weekly, and a few years ago, Caxton ventured into online publication, so I contribute daily to the websites. I could say I am a multimedia journalist, and working in a community newspaper is beneficial as we do not focus on one thing but we do a bit of everything.
