Durban SARDA needs volunteers

People who are interested in volunteering for SARDA Durban are invited to come along to a training session on Thursday, January 30.

THE South African Riding for the Disabled Association (SARDA) is looking for volunteers to assist children with special needs during their regular horse riding therapy classes.

SARDA Durban provides a unique therapeutic riding programme to schools for children with special needs and there is no charge to the schools or the families.

The programme runs on weekday mornings throughout each school term and is manned by volunteers.

There are also other options to volunteer if you are not physically able to walk with the children and horses.

The workshop for current and new volunteers will be held on Thursday, January 30 from 09:30 to 11:00 at Eden View, SARDA Durban, 4 Assagay Crescent (not Road), Assagay.

The classes will start shortly after the training sessions. Enthusiasm and energy are the only requirements to be a SARDA volunteer and those with no previous experience with horses are also welcome.

Sanelisiwe Tsinde

My name is Sanelisiwe Tsinde, and I'm a mother of two boys and very family-oriented. Being a community journalist for years, I can proudly say I love writing about positive community news articles and giving a voice to the voiceless. Seeing people getting assistance warms my heart. Every day is a different challenge and a new learning opportunity. I supply news for our trusted publication weekly, and a few years ago, Caxton ventured into online publication, so I contribute daily to the websites. I could say I am a multimedia journalist, and working in a community newspaper is beneficial as we do not focus on one thing but we do a bit of everything.
