Hillcrest man shot and killed in home invasion

The deceased and his girlfriend had just returned from the shops when unknown men entered the house and demanded money from them.

A 61-YEAR-OLD man was shot and killed in his home last night, Thursday, February 27.

Captain Carmen Rhynes, eThekwini District communications officer, said it is alleged that the man was returning home from grocery shopping with his girlfriend when three unknown men came from the kitchen door to the garage.

“They pointed at the couple with a firearm and demanded money from them. Suddenly there was a gunshot and the deceased was shot on the left side of his chest and died at the scene.

According to Rhynes, the suspects took a television and a cellphone before fleeing the scene.

No one has been arrested yet and a case of murder is being investigated by Hillcrest SAPS.
