Support annual wheelchair challenge

The company hopes to raise R500 000 this year which will go to charities and various individuals.

A PINETOWN company, SBS Tanks, is targeting raising half a million rand at their fifth annual wheelchair challenge on Friday, March 14.

The company hosts this challenge every year in March as it is mobility / disability awareness month.

The wheelchair challenge sheds light on the challenges faced by individuals with limited mobility, while encouraging businesses to join in hosting similar initiatives.

SBS Tanks CEO, Delayne Gray, spends the day in a wheelchair. The initiative was sparked in 2021 when Gray participated in the Little Eden Society Annual CEO Wheelchair Challenge.

On the day, there are wheelchair basketball games that take place with the Ethekwini Spears Basketball team, as well as teams entered by other companies.

Beneficiaries include Made for More, Little Eden and various individuals.

To get involved, the public or companies can make a donation to the event, enter a team to play, or sponsor a hamper as a prize for the raffle.

The public is invited to attend and purchase food and drinks, with all proceeds going towards the fundraising event

Sanelisiwe Tsinde

My name is Sanelisiwe Tsinde, and I'm a mother of two boys and very family-oriented. Being a community journalist for years, I can proudly say I love writing about positive community news articles and giving a voice to the voiceless. Seeing people getting assistance warms my heart. Every day is a different challenge and a new learning opportunity. I supply news for our trusted publication weekly, and a few years ago, Caxton ventured into online publication, so I contribute daily to the websites. I could say I am a multimedia journalist, and working in a community newspaper is beneficial as we do not focus on one thing but we do a bit of everything.
