Westville community invited to celebrate Ann Pape’s life

The Angels have been put up in celebration of Pape's life.

THE Westville community is invited to celebrate the life on Ann Pape this afternoon, Wednesday, March 19 outside her house.

Pape was a cherished resident of Dawncliffe for over 40 years and died after an illness. Many people will remember her corner house in Dawncliffe, along Harwarden Crescent where her beautiful Christmas Angels shone brightly each year, bringing joy to all who passed by.

Pape was a devoted member of her church, a proud business owner, and deeply involved in the community.

“Ann faced her illness with incredible strength and grace and was sadly taken from us on Saturday, leaving behind her two wonderful children, Mark and Karen,” said Westville resident, Roselyne Mamet.

The Angels have been put up for the celebration. The children from Westville Pre-primary put up a sign in front of her gate and the community have added flowers every day.

Pape had a deep love for flowers, and in her memory, Mamet invites those who knew her — and even those who didn’t — to honour her by placing flowers, messages, candles, outside her gate as a tribute to her beautiful spirit.

“Let’s come together to celebrate the life of a remarkable woman who touched so many hearts,” said Mamet.

My name is Sanelisiwe Tsinde, and I'm a mother of two boys and very family-oriented. Being a community journalist for years, I can proudly say I love writing about positive community news articles and giving a voice to the voiceless. Seeing people getting assistance warms my heart. Every day is a different challenge and a new learning opportunity. I supply news for our trusted publication weekly, and a few years ago, Caxton ventured into online publication, so I contribute daily to the websites. I could say I am a multimedia journalist, and working in a community newspaper is beneficial as we do not focus on one thing but we do a bit of everything.
