Man killed in Hammarsdale head-on collision

A head-on collision which took place in Hammarsdale this morning has claimed a life of one man leaving others injured.

A MAN believed to be in his 40s was killed this morning (Tuesday, May 6) in a head-on collision on Mthoko Mkhize Drive in Hammarsdale.

ALS Paramedics spokesperson Garrith Jamieson said four other people sustained various injuries.

According to Jamieson, multiple ambulances responded to the scene just before 05:30.

“A taxi and a light motor vehicle had collided head on. A quick triage was done on the scene and paramedics found that one person was severely entrapped in the wreckage and had sustained fatal injuries.

“Four other occupants from both vehicles had sustained various injuries. They were stabilised before being transported to various hospitals,” reported Jamieson.

He added that police were on scene and will investigate the cause of the accident.
