Two suspects have been arrested and police are following leads to apprehend the two other suspects.

A SECOND suspect linked to a business robbery in Caversham on Thursday, May 8, has been arrested today.

On Thursday a shoot-out ensued during the pursuit of four suspects after the driver of the getaway vehicle lost control of the car in Campbell Road.

“The suspects had stolen cellphones from patrons, which were later recovered by SAPS.”

Today (Friday, May 9), the Trio Task Team members were on an operation to trace the other suspects.

“Our members had a breakthrough when they received the information as to where one of the suspects was spotted. They swiftly proceeded to the address and identified the suspect.

“‘His details matched the ones on the documents recovered last night inside the vehicle. The suspect also had some fresh bruises which he sustained on Thursday night. The suspect was arrested and is detained at Pinetown SAPS.”

Matthysen said cases of business robbery and possession of unlicensed firearm and ammunition have been opened at the station.

The station commander also thanked everyone who was involved in the pursuit of the suspects; police members, neighbourhood watch patrollers and private security companies.
