Suspected murder suicide investigated after cop and wife found dead

Police say an unlicensed firearm was found next to the police officer who is from the North West and was visiting his wife at Nazareth.

THE Pinetown police are investigating cases of murder and an inquest after the bodies of a man, who is a police officer, and his wife were found in a pool of blood last Wednesday.

Police spokesperson Colonel Robert Netshiunda said it is suspected the incident was a murder-suicide at a rented residence on Ziqubu Road at Nazareth in Pinetown.

“It is reported that a man, who is a police officer from North West province, arrived to visit his wife and the two had an argument before gunshots were heard. Both victims were declared dead at the scene and an unlicensed firearm was found next to the man’s body. The cause of the shooting is unknown at this stage, however a domestic violence-related feud cannot be ruled out,” said Netshiunda.
