Headway members have fun on the field

Headway Natal members had a fun day taking part in an exciting array of activities at the NPOs annual Winter Games.

HEADWAY-NATAL is a non-profit rehabilitation centre assisting survivors of acquired brain injury, stroke victims and those caring for them.

On Friday, August 15, a ‘Mad Hatters Fun Day’ was held at the Jimmy Bellows Field at the Westville Old Boys Club. This fun day is an annual event with a different theme each year.

The purpose of the event is to have fun, and to ‘compete’ with other similarly abled participants.

Headway Natal members Hunter Tilling and Tom Rout have fun at the winter sport fair.

This annual event boosts camaraderie among the members, and also helps them to see the progress achieved in their journey. Games such as ball kick, flip and catch, ten pin bowls and boccia are set up, as well as walking races.

Participants are assisted by therapists and volunteers.

Xoli Msomi, Lawrence Sewnara and Monica Mweli enjoy the day’s activities.

Sanelisiwe Tsinde

My name is Sanelisiwe Tsinde, and I'm a mother of two boys and very family-oriented. Being a community journalist for years, I can proudly say I love writing about positive community news articles and giving a voice to the voiceless. Seeing people getting assistance warms my heart. Every day is a different challenge and a new learning opportunity. I supply news for our trusted publication weekly, and a few years ago, Caxton ventured into online publication, so I contribute daily to the websites. I could say I am a multimedia journalist, and working in a community newspaper is beneficial as we do not focus on one thing but we do a bit of everything.
