“The purpose of the clean-up was to try and save sea creatures and to provide a better environment for them. With gloves on and trash bags in hand, the strong team in high spirits picked up various trash items and left the area knowing they had made a difference,” said Hooper.

Emeris Westville first year Bachelor of Laws student Nomvelo Mkhize said: “I love taking part in projects that promote a better environment. I know for sure that I made a difference in helping save our coastline and that I potentially saved sea creatures from ingesting waste. It’s impossible to make an impact alone – there must be other people seeing the importance of saving our planet for change to take place. Being a part of such an initiative made me realise that there are people who see the need to stand up and take action to save the world that they live in but most importantly I got to see the spirit of unity.”
