Highway Hospice final silent auction to get underway
All proceeds from the auction will go towards supporting compassionate palliative care for patients and their families.
THE Highway Hospice’s final silent auction is set to open on Saturday, November 22, and close on Saturday, November 29.
The hospice’s Jenine Gous said the auction will have a vibrant collection of vintage pieces, each one unique, unusual, and full of antique charm.
Gous said all the auction items are donated by the community and the funds raised are used to support palliative patient care, helping patients and their families through comprehensive care and emotional support during a very difficult time.
How the bidding process works:
“Our auction team from the Highway Hospice Charity Shop compiles and emails a catalogue to all registered bidders. The catalogue includes lot numbers, photographs, detailed descriptions, and minimum bid amounts for each item.
“The auction room will be open from 22 to 29 November at 5 Butts Road, Pinetown. Bidders can register at the auction counter with a R10 registration fee, where they’ll receive an auction number and a rules sheet,” explained Gous.

Bidders will receive a page of auction rules, a second one which is the bidding form, where bidders note the lot number, brief description, and their bid amount and page three which will be the Lot Number Sheet for circling the items they’ve bid on, helping the team keep the board updated.
“Bidders may also submit their bids via email and can update or add to their bids throughout the auction period.
“Bidding closes when the auction room doors close on 29 November. The team then captures all bids, finalises the results, and prepares items for collection. Results are sent out the following week, and the auction room remains open for collections until 23 December.
“Please note that items cannot be posted, successful bidders are responsible for collecting their goods or arranging courier services,” said Gous.
She added that the Highway Hospice Charity Shop is open from Monday to Friday: 09:00 – 15:45 and Saturday: 08:30 – 11:45.
