Help Pinetown resident spoil the elderly

Pinetown resident Bronwin Pitt aims to spread joy to senior citizens by filling sweet hampers and toiletry bags for Christmas.

PINETOWN resident Bronwin Pitt believes that elderly people deserve to be treated royally and spoilt, and it is for this reason that she is adding some sweetness to the lives of the senior citizens.

For the past five years Pitt has been filling and distributing sweet hampers.

“Last year, the hampers were distributed to the Elders Voice, and the oldies were absolutely thrilled. This year, I am collecting a few toiletries and sweets,” she said.

She said senior citizens are close to her heart and she will continue to collect for as long as possible. I believe they deserve to be treated well, with respect and spoiled,” she added.

Pitt needs to fill 350 bags with toiletries and sweets to deliver to residents for Christmas.

The total includes the carers as they also deserve a little something for all they do for the oldies.

“I have small string bags which were specially made by a Good Samaritan and for that I am grateful. I would like to also thank the people who have supported this initiative.”

For more information or to obtain the list of items that are needed, contact Pitt on 083 448 2811. There are also drop off points in Pinetown, Hillcrest and Botha’s Hill or Durban North.

Sanelisiwe Tsinde

My name is Sanelisiwe Tsinde, and I'm a mother of two boys and very family-oriented. Being a community journalist for years, I can proudly say I love writing about positive community news articles and giving a voice to the voiceless. Seeing people getting assistance warms my heart. Every day is a different challenge and a new learning opportunity. I supply news for our trusted publication weekly, and a few years ago, Caxton ventured into online publication, so I contribute daily to the websites. I could say I am a multimedia journalist, and working in a community newspaper is beneficial as we do not focus on one thing but we do a bit of everything.
