Hillcrest High educators off to mark matric finals
Hillcrest High School educators travel across KZN to mark 2025 matric exam scripts, ensuring accurate results and preparation for 2026.
HILLCREST High School educators from the Mathematics, English, isiZulu, Afrikaans, German, History, Geography, Life Sciences, Engineering, Graphics and Design, and Commerce Departments set off in early December to begin the onerous task of marking the 2025 National Senior Certificate Examination scripts.
Along with other markers from schools across the province, many of the educators will be required to travel out of the area to places such as Pietermaritzburg, Phoenix and into more remote areas of KZN, leaving behind their families, to provide this essential service.
“We extend our thanks to not only the educators who go off to do marking, but also those educators who stay to keep the school functioning,” said Hillcrest High School principal Denise Knight.

“Matric marking is truly a team effort – while the markers take on this vital service to ensure that all matric scripts are marked and moderated with care and excellence, the educators who remain at school take care of the learners and complete the various administrative tasks to prepare for next year. Extra lessons are also continued to give learners in the FET stages a headstart on covering challenging material for 2026, and for the junior classes, a fun programme gives learners a chance to regroup after the year end examinations.”
While learners from the Class of 2025 take time to relax after the strenuous exam season, we extend wishes to the educators across the country who are marking scripts as they work to complete this task ahead of the release of the results in January 2026.
