IEBmatricresults2025: St Marys celebrates a 100% pass rate

St Mary’s DSG celebrates exceptional 2025 IEB matric results, achieving a 100% pass rate, and an impressive 273 distinctions.

THE Independent Examinations Board (IEB) announced the results of the 2025 National Senior Certificate (NSC) examinations today (Monday, January 8). The Class of 2025 achieved an overall pass rate of 98.31%.

The Highway all girls school St Mary’s DSG obtained a 100% pass rate, with 99% achieving a Bachelor’s Degree Pass.

“This class achieved 273 distinctions between them, including Further Studies. This has resulted in an average of 3.1 distinctions per student,” said proud principal Jonathan Manley.

Congratulating the girls on the excellent results, Manley commended the Class of 2025 on their outstanding work ethic and dedication.

“Overall the class average was 77.2%; 44% of the results were distinctions; 76% of the results were above 70%; 33 girls achieved an average mark of over 80%, with our six top students achieving an aggregate of over 90%.

“The whole grade performed extremely well and 98% of the individual subject results were above 50%. This is important to note, as every mark above 50% counts towards their university acceptance.”

He said the average for individual subjects was above the national average by 7.65% overall.

“The two subjects often used as benchmarks, namely Mathematics and English, had averages of 74% and 75% respectively. They also achieved 21 instances in the top 1% in their subject. This is a superb accomplishment.

“Our congratulations go to Nicole Hill and Hannah Milne for placing in the top 5% in six or more subjects and being on the Outstanding Achievers list of the IEB.

“Seanna Barrett, Mia Dickson and Kiara Wentzel placed in the top 5% in five subjects and are on the Commendable Achievers list of the IEB.”

In his speech he reminded everyone that matric results start on the first day of school in Junior Primary.

“Every teacher plays a part along the journey to those final exams. The character and curiosity that is developed in their years through school is reflected in these results.

“Parents are essential in providing support and the home environment, which encourages these young women to take up the challenge to perform at their best.”
