The competition also served as a selection platform for the upcoming South African Schools Team, where the top six girls and six boys from each age group earned the opportunity to represent the nation.

“Out of 96 girls competing in her category, Sofia’s outstanding performance earned her a well-deserved spot on the team,” said Star College marketing manager Sara Hayden.

The South African Schools Team is set to embark on a tennis tour to the UK, with one of the highlights being a visit to the Wimbledon Tennis Stadium.

Star College principal Ahmet Kayya expressed his pride in Sofia’s accomplishments.

“Sofia’s selection is a proud moment for Star College, reaffirming the school’s commitment to supporting young talent and excellence. Her dedication and love for tennis has paid off. We wish her all the best as she represents South Africa on this international stage.”
