Hillcrest author’s book reflects on healing
Hillcrest author Vera Vencatasamy's new book 'Masterpiece' is a heartfelt exploration of resilience and healing.
HILLCREST author and speaker, Vera Vencatasamy, recently launched her book Masterpiece, a faith-centered book that explores some of the real struggles many people quietly face, including grief, trauma, bullying, rejection, child abuse and loss.
Vencatasamy, who is passionate about encouraging people to rediscover their value and purpose, said her journey has been shaped by experiences that taught her resilience, faith, and the importance of healing.
Through her writing and speaking, she said she hopes to create spaces where people feel seen, understood, and reminded that their lives still hold meaning.

The wife and mother said she decided to write it because she realised that many people carry painful stories in silence and often feel that their experiences somehow diminish their worth.
“The book is an honest reflection on healing and becoming whole, and a reminder that even through broken seasons, our lives are still being shaped into something meaningful.
Source of inspiration
“I am inspired by stories of resilience, people who continue to hope and move forward despite difficult circumstances. Faith is also a significant source of inspiration for me, as it reminds me that purpose can emerge even in the most challenging seasons. I’m continually inspired by the courage it takes for people to rebuild their lives and rediscover who they are,” said the local author.
By writing this book, she explained that she hopes that readers will come away with a deeper understanding that their past does not define their worth.

“I want people to recognise that healing is a journey and that it is possible to move forward with hope, faith, and courage. Ultimately, I hope readers will see themselves differently, that they are not broken beyond repair, but still a masterpiece in progress.”
She added that the book carries a special significance because the foreword was written by Yolande Korkie, author of 558 Days, who was held captive by Al-Qaeda along with her husband, Pierre Korkie.
“Her message of faith, endurance, and forgiveness reflects the heart of Masterpiece.”
