Man killed in Pinetown single vehicle crash

A single-vehicle crash on the M19 Pinetown bound after Otto Volek Road this morning has claimed the life of a 30-year-old man.

A SERIOUS single vehicle crash on the M19 Pinetown bound after Otto Volek Road this morning (March 31) has claimed a life of a 30-year-old man.

ALS Paramedics spokesperson Garrith Jamieson said paramedics found that the driver had lost control and the car came to rest against a tree.

“Paramedics found the passenger severely entrapped in the wreckage. He had sustained fatal injuries and unfortunately there was nothing paramedics could do for him and he was declared deceased on the scene.”

Jamieson reported that eThekwini Fire Department had to utilise the Jaws of Life to cut the man free.

“The driver had sustained moderate injuries and was stabilised on the scene by paramedics before being transported to a nearby hospital.”

Jamieson added that the events leading up to the crash are unknown.
