“The front door and burglar gate were reportedly open at the time. According to reports, two of the suspects were armed with firearms and instructed the elderly women to lie on the floor, while the remaining two suspects searched the rooms and stole various valuables from the home.
“The complainant further stated that the suspects arrived in a silver Nissan Lavina which was parked in the driveway and later used to remove the stolen property. It is alleged that the suspects derailed the electric gate in order to gain access to the property,” reported Rhynes.
The police spokesperson urged residents to remain vigilant and to ensure that all doors and security gates are kept locked at all times.
She also encouraged homeowners to install preventative safety measures on electric gates to prevent gates from being derailed by criminals.
“Residents are further advised to consider keeping panic alarm devices on their person, keyrings, or within easy reach in their homes in order to activate them during emergencies or threats posed by intruders.”
