The 31-year-old pleaded guilty, in terms of Section 112 of the Criminal Procedure Act, to charges of house break-in with intent to rob, robbery with aggravating circumstances, and murder. The offences were committed in February 2025 in Pinetown.
Sosibo said Ntuli and his co-conspirator, who is still at large, entered a Pinetown home with the intention to commit robbery.
“During a confrontation, the victim was fatally shot in the presence of his wife. Ntuli and his accomplice thereafter stole various household items as well as the deceased’s motor vehicle before fleeing the scene.
“Ntuli was later arrested in connection with an unrelated matter, during which he confessed to his involvement in this case and conducted a pointing out of the deceased’s residence.”
The National Prosecuting Authority (NPA) welcomed the sentence handed down to Ntuli.
In aggravation of sentence, Prosecutor Rowen Bevin Souls handed in a Victim Impact Statement compiled by the deceased’s wife and facilitated by Court Preparation Officer Nomonde Zokwana.
“In her statement, the woman described the ongoing trauma caused by the incident, stating that the images of the incident continue to haunt her daily. She further indicated that the incident has caused irreparable damage to the family, who now live in constant fear,” said Natasha Ramkisson-Kara, NPA regional spokesperson – KZN Division.

“Sergeant Sosibo’s constant success in obtaining lengthy sentences boosts the community’s faith in the police and criminal justice system.
