About 200 Zimbabwean nationals waiting for buses in Pinetown
About 200 Zimbabweans are waiting in Pinetown to be transported to Johannesburg as the repatriation process for foreign nationals continues.
ACCORDING to the Durban Metro Police Service (DMPS), approximately 200 Zimbabwean nationals are at a site on Crompton Street in Pinetown, waiting for buses that will transport them to Johannesburg.

This as the repatriation process of foreign nationals in Durban continues, including from the Durban Drive-in.
The DMPS said its officers are monitoring the ongoing repatriation process at the Durban Drive-In site, where Malawian and other foreign nationals are being loaded onto buses for transport to Musina as part of the Department of Home Affairs’ processing programme.
The Metro Police said the 200 or so Zimbabwean nationals at the site on Crompton Street are “awaiting buses that will transport them to the Johannesburg Screening Centre for further processing”.

“A total of nine buses departed with passengers in Pinetown yesterday. The Durban Metro Police Service continues to support the operation alongside other government stakeholders to ensure the process is conducted safely, securely, and in an orderly manner,” said the Metro Police.
Meanwhile, the eThekwini Municipality said on Saturday, June 27, that it has been resolved that the Malawian nationals currently accommodated at the Durban Drive-In temporary repatriation site will be relocated to a newly established Temporary Repatriation Processing Centre in Musina, Limpopo.
“This decision follows a resolution of the Inter-Ministerial Committee on Migration, taken on 26 June, as part of government’s co-ordinated response to managing irregular migration and expediting voluntary repatriation processes.”
The new facility in Musina has been established to:
- Enhance the verification and processing of undocumented foreign nationals.
- Facilitate faster and more efficient repatriation through the Beitbridge Port of Entry.
- Reduce pressure on existing repatriation facilities and improve overall operational efficiency.
