Let’s Go! Breathtaking winter escape

I recently experienced an ultimate winter getaway at Cayley Mountain Resort in the Drakensberg. The views are breathtaking views, there are cozy vibes, and epic adventures. From quad biking to spa days, and sunrises that will make you wanna stay in bed, this resort has it all.

ONE of the best getaways I’ve had the chance to experience. I had the absolute pleasure of snuggling away into a winter escape at Cayley Mountain Resort, and my oh my… what a breathtaking place.

Cayley is known for having the “only beach in the Berg”.

Nestled in the beautiful Drakensberg, Cayley is exactly what you imagine when you think of a peaceful mountain escape; scenic views, cosy stays, fresh air, incredible food and plenty of activities to keep you entertained. And although we arrived expecting the typical cold winter weather and even packed our coats in anticipation of snow, the weather surprised us with some absolutely beautiful days.

From the moment we arrived, I was completely wowed by the beautiful unit. Having my own private space made the stay feel even more special, and the heated pool was the perfect touch for a winter getaway.

We were also treated to an amazing braai at the boma, which was such a lovely way to end our first day.

And then came the morning….

One of the highlights was waking up to those breathtaking sunrise and mountain views. It was the kind of view that makes you want to stay in bed just a little longer.

The second day started with a delicious breakfast before we headed for a much needed spa date at Body Bliss Day Spa. The steam room and massage were exactly what I needed, pure relaxation.

There was also plenty to explore around the resort. We got to experience the padel courts, enjoy some really good food throughout our stay at The Bell & Whistle, and the staff was amazing.

In the afternoon, we went on a boat cruise. I also had my first ever quad biking experience, which was so much fun and definitely added a little adventure to the getaway, although it was a bit terrifying at the beginning.

Definitely worth visiting again

We had planned to go hiking on our final morning, but unfortunately the rain had other plans and we had to cancel. Hiking is one of the activities offered at Cayley.

What I loved most about Cayley Mountain Resort is that there really is something for everyone. Whether you are looking for a romantic couple’s getaway, a family holiday, a little adventure or simply somewhere to switch off and breathe, this resort has so much to offer.

Quad biking is one of the many exciting activities offered at Cayley.

From the restaurant and bar, swimming pool and spa to the activities and beautiful mountain surroundings, everything comes together to create the perfect mountain retreat.

But beyond the facilities, it was the peace, the views, the experiences, the food and the incredible staff that made this trip so special.
