Movie night fundraiser back on at Westown this Saturday
Funds raised will be used to continue the upgrades to the area allocated as a Homework Zone at Hillcrest High School.
MOVIE Night at Westown Square is back this weekend. Join the Hillcrest High School Representative Council of Learners (HHS RCL) for a fun outdoor fundraiser under the stars screening the all-time epic The Amazing Spiderman. Tickets cost R50 and can be booked via Quicket or on the night at The Bowl – subject to availability.
Food, snacks and drinks vendors will be parked on the grass above terraced seating for convenience. A range of decadent and delicious treats will be on offer including coffees, hot and cold drinks from The Steam Room, burgers and nachos from Cheat Day, potato twisters, Chip ‘n Dip, candy floss and other snacks from CandyCrush, bubble teas and drinks from Bubble Bar and cinnamon buns from Cinnamon Comfort. The RCL will also be selling popcorn – because what is a movie night without popcorn!
“We were so disappointed to have to cancel the previous date planned for movie night and our HHS RCL team have been working so hard to raise the funds needed to continue the upgrades to the Homework Zone – their gift to future learners and the school, ” said Denise Knight, principal of HHS.

“If we can get a full house this will be an incredible fundraiser due to the kind generosity of Kaleido Westown, the developers of Westown Square and the surrounding residential estates, who are sponsoring the costs of the movie licence and Westown Square who are hosting.”
Funds raised throughout the year by holding various events and activations, including the recent Heritage Evening, will be used to continue the upgrades to the area allocated as a Homework Zone where learners can wait for their lifts after school. The area currently includes benches and a few umbrellas and was landscaped with the assistance of Lindsay Gray’s School of Garden Design. Additional benches, paving and either additional umbrellas or a permanent awning are required to complete the project which was started by the 2025 RCL.
