EDITOR – On Thursday 1 August at 11pm the alarm went off at our house, and when I went to look, all the lights had gone out and I saw flames in the trapdoor area.
While my husband was on the cellphone frantically asking ADT to send the fire brigade an ADT guard arrived.
While the guard and my husband were spraying the roof with a garden hose the fire brigade arrived, literally charged into the house and put the fire out.
Although the experience has been traumatic many things impressed me.
Firstly the speed with which ADT responded and secondly the very short time it took for the fire brigade to arrive. I think that from the time the alarm went off until the time the first fire truck arrived was approximately 10 minutes.
In addition the kindness and empathy shown by these individuals was amazing. I cannot praise them too highly and wish to thank them all, as well as all the other people I have dealt with since the fire.
